Amazon is the shop you end up at on the 21st of December when the proper retailers have sold out of your size and panic has set in. It is not the most romantic way to buy a Christmas jumper, but the delivery promise has rescued more office parties than anybody cares to admit.
What it does better than anyone is breadth. Independent sellers, licensed knitwear, the cheap end, the genuinely nice end, novelty hats, pet jumpers and a vast pile of slogan tees all sit in the same place. If a Christmas design exists anywhere, somebody is selling it here.
The trade-off is that you have to do a bit of the quality control yourself. Three things worth checking before you click. Who is actually selling it, because a marketplace listing and an Amazon-stocked item are different propositions if something needs returning. The sizing, which on novelty knits from unfamiliar brands runs small far more often than it runs large – read the reviews rather than the size chart. And the fabric, because an acrylic knit at that price is fine and expected, but you want to know before it arrives. We have picked out the ones we rate here to save you the wading.
