Dressing a bump at Christmas is genuinely hard. Regular clothes have stopped working, you are warmer than everybody else in the room, and the thing you want to wear to the party is a thick wool jumper designed for somebody who is not seven months pregnant. It is a mean bit of timing and the high street is not much help.
So this section is the maternity Christmas knitwear we have actually been able to find, and it is a shorter list than it should be. The things that matter: proper length over the bump, so it does not ride up by the second drink; a bit of stretch or a swing shape rather than a straight cut; and ideally a thinner knit, because you are going to be hot regardless of what anyone else in the room is doing.
Jumper dresses are worth a serious look here – they solve the length problem outright and they take tights, which simplifies the whole evening. And if nothing in maternity grabs you, a standard knit two sizes up often does the job perfectly and costs less. Nobody will know, and you will be family-photo ready either way.
