A long time ago, in a knitwear department far, far away. Star Wars and Christmas have been tangled together since the films started arriving in December, and the licensed festive knit is now one of the most reliably good things in the whole novelty jumper trade – mostly because the designers clearly enjoy themselves.
The gags write themselves and the good ones still land. Darth Vader in a Santa hat. An AT-AT pulling a sleigh. Yoda with a wreath, usually with the word order rearranged. R2-D2 strung with fairy lights. A Death Star doing a reasonable impression of a bauble. The Millennium Falcon in a snowstorm that is definitely not an asteroid field.
Because these are officially licensed, the print quality tends to be a step up on the generic novelty knit, and so does the sizing consistency – which makes buying one as a gift considerably less of a gamble. They also sell out in a particular pattern: the obvious characters go first, so if you have your heart set on a specific one, get it ordered.
